The New Range Rover Sport Adds a New High-Performance Mild-Hybrid Engine Option

For those drivers who like to take those spontaneous weekend trips that tend to go off the beaten path, the Range Rover Sport has proven to be a more than capable SUV of getting them there. Now, the Range Rover Sport will be taking its performance to the next level with a mild-hybrid 400PS petrol engine that is paired with a mild hybrid 48V system.

The new engine is capable of hitting 400 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque and has a fuel economy of 30 mpg combined. Other notable performance numbers include a zero-60 time of 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 140 mph. It also reduced CO2 emissions by 12 percent and reduced particulate emissions by 75 percent.

The engine features an all-new Start-Stop system that can store energy in the 48V battery as the Range Rover decelerates. The system then dynamically reroutes the energy through a torque-assist technology, which in turn reduces emissions as well as the strain upon the engine.

Land Rover has created a special trim level that will exclusively house this new engine, a special edition HST. This new version of the Range Rover Sport will come with several interior and exterior details that will help it stand out including bespoke badging and carbon fiber trim on the front grille, side vents, and tailgate.

The new Land Rover Range Rover HST is available now at Land Rover Glen Cove.
